Fool’s Spring

I recorded a nice instrumental guitar piece celebrating a special season we have here in the Bay Area called “Fool’s Spring”. It comes after Winter, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the warm weather is here to stay. Nonetheless it’s glorious weather here today, and I hope this melody captures the feeling of it for you.

Sonoma Red & Olema Green

[G]Sonoma Red and [D]Olema Green

[Am}Have a little way of getting [C] in between

What I felt and what I seen

Feeling so good like I’ve never been

[Em] This sunset [D] just keeps [Am] blooming

[C] Like a rolling ocean [G] wave

[Em]The clouds [D]so all [Am]consuming

[C]That it’s taking [D]me [G]away

The red is in my body

Bringing warmth and a gentle sway

While the green is on my mind

In a most peculiar way

And they dance in me together to light up this sunny day

they lift my weary spirit like a thermal on the Bay

So come dance with me, beloved

Streaking tracers across the floor

Painting bouncing woozy circles

That I’ll see when my eyes are closed

Fire Season

VERSE 1

Cadd9 – Am7

This love I’m in feels like a parched forest floor

Aching for the rains that haven’t come

An uneasy truce like needles of spruce that pile up into fuel

Fmaj7 – G – Am

Like underbrush in a heat wave, late June {2x}

VERSE 2

Cadd9 – Am7

And a careless word unkind could set the valley floor alight

With the fury of every hurt just covered over without a word

Fmaj7 – G – Am

Is going up like wild fire tonight {2x}

CHORUS

F – G – Am

Fire season finally burn this old love away

It’s been ready to go up for far too long

The quiet kindling when there’s nothing left to say

means this love won’t outlive this fire season

VERSE 3

Cadd9 – Am7

The Marine layer rolls in just after 3am

A dew falls and the flames just settle down

No more trees block the way of the rising of the day

Fmaj7 – G – Am

And the sunrise slides down the hillside to me

CHORUS

F – G – Am – Em

Fire season finally burn this old love away

It’s been ready to go up for far too long

The quiet kindling when there’s nothing left to say

means this love won’t outlive this fire season

INSTRUMENTAL

Cadd9 – Am7 (x3)

Fmaj7 – G – Am (x2)

Bridge

Dmadd9.   —  Fmaj7

What love will grow in the ashes of the old?

Dmadd9. –G

What love will grow in the ashes of the old?

Dmadd9.   —  Fmaj7

Is it dead and gone or will my love soon be reborn?

Dmadd9.   —  G

What love will grow here?

CHORUS

F – G – Am

Fire season finally burn this old love away

It’s been ready to go up for far too long

The quiet kindling when there’s nothing left to say

means this love won’t outlive this fire season
